TGMS Future Stars #82: SIDD

SIDD aka Sherif Sid Ahmed, was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. His connection to electronic music started more than 15 years ago and he was inspired by world-known DJs and producers. He lived in both Canada and Germany where during these times he was exposed to festivals and parties, while also getting engaged in the music scene.

SIDD has been actively involved in his music and has been part of a growing electronic music concept in Egypt called Melodic Room. Hosting bi-monthly events that bring international and local DJs to perform in its resident club.

Having been influenced by the Melodic House & Techno and Ethereal genres, SIDD conveys his style through his sets which encompasses melodic yet emotional dimensions and rhythmic sounds.

Where are you from and what do you find inspirational about where you’re living?
Coming from Alexandria, Egypt I see that the whole country is an inspiration to all Egyptians due to its immense history that led to one of the greatest civilizations. It’s great to see how there is great diversity in cultural expressions throughout different regions. Despite all the different religious and cultural backgrounds, people believe in the importance of working and living together.

Where does your passion for electronic music come from?
I have always had a positive connection to various genres of electronic music since my teen years. Depending on where I am in my life and my mood, I find myself engaged in a specific genre. The music has been an essential part of me and I find enjoyment in being absorbed in time with my favorite sounds.

How has your music been influenced by other artists, musicians, or life in general?
Perhaps I was influenced the most during Hernan Cattaneo’s performance in Egypt several years back. That experience has always been a benchmark for me in terms of conveying the music during my sets.

What excites you the most as a DJ/producer?
I always look forward to events I perform in as I enjoy playing my favorite tracks and see the crowd immersed in the music. I love the energy of the crowd and their positive vibes they bring out during my sets.

What can we expect from the mix you made us?
Expect a journey of melodic and deep elements delivered in different energies throughout the mix. Included are some of my current favorite tracks and there is a famous classic to look out for 🙂
