Next up in our Future stars series is Cairo-based duo, DJs & Producers, Los Profundos. Or you can think of them as the electronic ambassadors of deep melodic energy. Infused with strong signature beats, Los Profundos have been spinning from Detroit to the UK, down to Spain and Egypt since 2016. With after-parties and underground events being their main domain, the duo always come up with creatively produced sounds and fresh tunes for an unforgettable journey.

Where do you come from and what makes your place so special for you?
We come from Cairo, Egypt but raised in Detroit, with Techno being the main staple in the electronic music scene there, our style got infused with melodic vibes favoured in Egypt
How do you see the electronic music scene evolve in and around the city or country?
With the lines between the genres ever merging more and more, the electronic music scene is becoming deeper and more energetic and more genres are now widely listened to, I could say that here, this scene is greatly being adopted more and more every day.
What excites you the most as being a DJ/producer? Or even as a duo?
Music has the power to change stuff, people and lives. Our passion is to help people change for the better, to enjoy and dance it away. In the end, the truth is on the dance floor, especially, when the tunes that move them have your personal touch and flavour.
How do you resolve conflicts if there are any?
Play more music of course
How do you approach a gig as a DJ duo?
We are very interactive together, we always remap our controllers prior to any gig. While I am mixing in a track, my duo would be applying all sorts of effects and preparing the next track. @ The club, no matter how well you are prepared, you have to attend to the dance floor, so everything might just change in a second.
How has your music been influenced by other artists, musicians, or life in general?
Having been to several places from Detroit to Manchester and Spain, we have always listened to electronic music from different perspectives. We dreamed of producing it, beat by beat. With its high energy, fast pace, profound intensity … it all sort of shapes how we really are, Los Profundos.
What can we expect from the mix you made us?
This is definitely a set not short on energy, includes new tunes from leading international labels. We would say the set is a banger for the right dancefloor, mixing melodic vibes with deep vocals delivered on a solid baseline.
What’s your favourite song to date?
It’s a tough question, we have a lot of favourite tracks. If we had to narrow it down, it would probably be a release from Jeff Mills, Stephan Bodzin and Cattaneo.
