Where are you from (city/area) and what makes that place special?
I am from Duesseldorf, Germany. It is a rather large city with around 600.000 inhabitants but it combines aspects of a city with scenic landscapes. 10 min drive and you can experience the free nature. I love this diversity. Also, people are very diverse. Every night at my resident club is unique.
What excites you the most as being a DJ/producer?
I love to make people happy and I love to have a good night with them too. The best feeling is when you see the crowd dancing and having fun and it is an even better feeling when it is to one of your own songs. In the studio, I love it when I am seeing a new song coming together and to vibe to it during the process.
Tell us about what first got you started into electronic music?
My Father introduced me in my early years to electronic Music like ATB or Schiller (not the German poet, but the German electronic ambient project). The years after I listened to many different genres and came across Fl Studio when I was 16 (later I switched to Ableton). When I saw Avicii Live in 2014 I started to produce electronic music more seriously and through that got in touch with DJing.
How has your music been influenced by other artists, musicians, or life in general?
I get inspired by things all the time. One time I recorded a clicking noise of a scoreboard at a train station and used it as a percussive element in one of my songs. Furthermore, I like to use organic sounds, inspired by nature. One of my biggest influences is Nora En Pure she is an Indie Dance and Deep House Djane and Producer. Her Music is just magnificent. Piano melodies and driving beats characterize her songs and sets. I had the pleasure to meet her once and she is such a wonderful and kind soul.
Some other influences of mine are Rufus du Sol, EDX, Yotto, Lane 8, Gorgon City, Schiller and the list could go on and on, there are so many talented people out there!
How would you describe your sound and style?
I like to describe my style as a two-sided medal. On the one hand, I love to keep my songs and sets very melodic, some synth melodies or maybe a piano part. On the other hand, I have the desire for a pumping bassline and a hard-hitting kick. Those two sides keep my sets, songs and me in balance.
What can we expect from the mix you made us?
I recorded this set at my resident club in Duesseldorf and just as I mentioned I fused melodic parts with some deep basslines and rich kicks but I do not want to tease that much. Have a listen and let yourself be surprised.
What is your source for finding great tracks for your set?
I spend much time on Beatport. I go through the charts and look for the songs that stand out. Besides that, I have an open ear everywhere I go. If I am at a party, the mall or somewhere else and I hear a track I like I Shazam it. Additionally, I listen to many sets of other DJs in my free time to find some tracks I can incorporate in my sets as well.
