Born from a fateful meeting in Vienna’s vibrant 1990s music scene, Noiseshaper is the brainchild of Austrian duo Axel Hirn and Florian Fleischmann. What began as a shared passion for beats and basslines evolved into a genre-blending project that’s pushed boundaries across dub, reggae, and electronica.
Their journey gained momentum in Berlin, where Flo launched the iconic Bass Research nights while experimenting with his MPC. Axel joined, and in a smoke-filled studio, Noiseshaper was born. Their debut album, Prelaunch Sequence (2001), showcased a hypnotic fusion of reggae warmth and Berlin edge, quickly followed by international acclaim with tracks like All A Dem A Do.
Noiseshaper: A Sonic Journey Rooted in Dub and Beyond
Over the years, the duo performed across Europe, released on respected labels, and collaborated with legends like Dennis Bovell, Adrian Sherwood, and MC Juggla. Their sound also found its way to Hollywood, appearing in films like Disturbia and The Dukes of Hazzard. Albums like Rough Out There and Real to Reel highlighted their political awareness and musical innovation, blending conscious lyrics with infectious rhythms.
After a long hiatus and time apart—Axel in London’s On-U Sound studio and Flo in Berlin’s culinary scene—the band quietly returned. In 2019, a re-release on King Size Dub sparked new energy, and by 2023, Noiseshaper had reunited with bassist Clemens Handler, releasing the EP Listen to the Sound.
Now, they’re back in full force with their upcoming album Welcome The Unknown, featuring rising talent Simple Straw and soul singer Jackie Deane. Tackling themes like climate change and unity, the album blends positivity with Noiseshaper’s signature dub soul.
A legacy of sonic exploration continues—Noiseshaper is once again ready to move hearts and feet.

With floods increasing 15-fold and wildfires seven-fold worldwide, we felt compelled to speak up—not just as artists, but as fathers. We wanted to create a song that not only sparks reflection but also inspires action.
