2017 took off with a blast as we had our first resident artists here on Tanzgemeinschaft. Italian breakthrough DJ and producer Monophaze joined us with a monthly mix filled with the best techno tracks at the moment.
As final last mix in his resident series for this year he made us something that catches fire. Awesome tunes in to end this year with a blast. On top, we had a short conversation with Lapo, as he this young talent is called. We talked about the past year and asked what the future will bring for him.
But first, tune into his 10th mix he made for us.

Hey Lapo,
Hope you are doing well. Let start with an introduction. You made us some fantastic mixes this year as our resident DJ. But maybe you can tell our listeners & readers a bit about your music background.
Well, my highlights of the year it was, of course, the collaboration with Tanzgemeinschaft.
Another great thing was the Alex Bau & Dirty Basscore project compilation featuring my track “Mapping out my mind” last September.
Let’s look back at 2017, what was the highlight of the year for you? Which moment did you enjoy the most of this year?
That sure was when I was playing in a small venue near my town. It was so funny.
Looking at 2018, what are your plans?
Oh well, my plans are still in progress. I have to grow with my studio hardware, I’m still improving with music & music related stuff every day.
Looking further ahead, where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
Well, I don’t really know where I will be in 5 years from now, but I hope to reach my goal as an artist.
How do you want people to describe you as an artist?
Well, music is one of the primary things that I’m involved with in my life. So, yes I’m an artist, and I’m NOT like other guys or artists that only want to release music and sell like a FAST FOOD thing. I want people to really appreciate my stuff.
What were the first types of music you tried to make?
The first type of music I produced and played was TRANCE. It was the very first period of my productions and DJing period. Anyway it was great fun, but so far from where I am now.
How did you evolve to the music you are producing today?
With my music, nothing is 100 % defined. Nowadays I produce and play 2 genres under name my artist name MONOPHAZE. But I prefer to keep techno first because taht is what I feel first. I don’t have a particular schedule to produce my tracks. My ears do the work!!
My music, especially techno is always in motion. Practising almost 3-4 days a week in the studio and focusing really hard on what I’m going to do next.
What are currently your main challenges as a DJ? What is it about DJing, compared to, say, producing your own music, that makes it interesting for you?
My challenge as a DJ is trying to play with vinyl oen day. It is really fascinating and feels like old school stuff to me.
Regarding my production work, I found out that it is very interesting to play around with Reverbs and Delays and I find distortion really fascinating cause the sound brings new colours. I also like to play with the speed of the tracks and bring the track the right motion and groove.
Who were some of the first DJs you ever saw that made you want to do it yourself?
Like I’ve said before I’m very pleased with the sound of ALEX BAU’s tracks and label. Also very interested in VRIL his work.
Gracie Mille.
