Hey Manda! How is everything currently with you? What have you been up to recently?

Hello, everything is great so far with the opening of the clubs, the engine is running full speed. I’m blessed and grateful to be able to tour again. In between gigs, I’m working on more music. I have a release on my dream label coming up in late May, another EP in collaboration with Trangaz coming in September. Working on a new label concept with Sirus Hood, I’m very excited about that.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your musical journey so far. What made you want to be involved in the industry, and what are some of the key moments/gigs/festivals that gave you the passion to be a DJ?

I’m Manda Moor, a half Danish, half Filipino DJ and producer living in Paris. I am known for my Mood Edits, my releases on Kaluki, Tamango, Afro Acid…

I’ve always been passionate about music in general, then my taste narrowed down to underground house music when I was 19/20. I used to party a lot and I fell in love with Ibiza, the vibe and the unity this sound creates.

When I moved to Paris in 2013, I went to every event where I knew there was a good DJ playing. My favourite parties that motivated me to push through are mainly in Ibiza: Paradise, Music On, Circoloco, and of course the magical after parties. These gatherings confirmed my wish to live off my passion which is music. I felt that I had to transmit this passion to crowds. So, I self-taught myself to DJ in 2015, then I got my first gigs, then I learned how to produce and released my first productions in 2020.

Would you say living in Paris influences your current sound?

Paris is very connected to Chicago music-wise, there is a true appreciation here for the origin of this genre being Chicago House. The French touch era contributed a lot to educating with quality and finesse. I do feel some inspiration and influence coming from that, on top of incredible Parisian artists like Apollonia, Sirus Hood, Laurent Garnier, Gauthier DM, The Mekanism, Joss Moog, DJ W!ld, Chris Carrier, Phil Weeks… .

What artists did you look up to when growing up, and who inspired you the most?

Queen, Micheal Jackson as a kid. Today I’m deeply inspired and influenced by 90s House, particularly Chicago House. Paul Johnson (RIP), Deeon, Sneak, Pierre, K Alexi are my brothers. I am really blessed to know them personally and I consider them as family.

What’s one piece of advice you can give to other aspiring producers?

Never let go of your objectives, because it is usually a long and bumpy road. Consistency and patience are key. Don’t fear rejection because it’s part of the process. Enjoy the ride, and count your blessings!

What are three things you can’t live without on the road when touring?

Headphones, sunglasses, phone.

Outside of producing & music, what else do you enjoy and how do you spend your time?

I love discovering new cultures, travelling, and swimming. I love animals, especially cats. I have 2 of them and they are my life. When I was a kid I always wanted to be around animals and save them. I hope one day to have a rescue place for them, a sanctuary.

I’m fond of nature and spirituality, every day I work on and learn about myself. I enjoy tennis, working out, in general, having a nice lifestyle and eating as much as I want because I LOVE food!

Do you have any goals for the next few years of your career? Where do you see yourself, as Manda Moor, ending up in the future?

Some of my goals would be releasing on my favourite labels like Cuttin Headz, having my label up and running with events, and being booked at some of my favourite spots like DC10, Space Miami and Warung.

Thank you
