Where are you from and what do you find inspirational about where you’re living?
I come originally from Mexico City but have been living in Berlin for the past 6 years of my life. If I had to choose the most inspiring things about the city it would be the feeling of community, the openness of the people to new ideas/proposals and the freedom.
What excites you the most as a DJ/producer?
I love to mix, I’m a natural DJ who enjoys sharing the music that I like with the hopes of making the listener feel something out of it.
Where does your passion for electronic music come from?
I started mixing at the age of 13 in Mexico City with my best friend. We were a great team and always shared our passion towards music. Since we played together, it was a mutual ‘competition’ to find the best unheard gems, initially to please each other. It’s still an addiction to look for the lesser known music and introduce it to the audience 🙂
How has your music been influenced by other artists, musicians, or life in general?
I’ve always believed there is no such thing as ‘bad music’ just the right circumstances for it. Everything in my surroundings sounds better with music, so, my everyday life influences the music that I listen to, discover and select to play. If I had to choose an artist whose sets have influenced me the most, it would be the almighty Vladimir Ivkovic or Adam X.
What can we expect from the mix you made us?
This mix is my first ambient one, I started listening more to this genre due to the current world situation. I just found peace in it. When telling this to a friend I met in Mexico a few months ago, she asked me to make a selection for her. I romantically prepared this mix hoping it would create the same feelings of calmness for her and for everyone listening to it!
How will the future of a DJ look like let’s say in 2030?
It’s hard to say, I just hope all artists find fairer ways to be compensated. I believe this pandemic will bring a lot of problems to independent musicians. So I choose to think positively and hope for a better scenario for all of us.
