Joanna Coelho celebrates hardcore music with her new EP ‘All Day, All Night’

2025 has only just begun but Brazilian-born DJ and producer Joanna Coelho already has clear ideas and she’s proving it with the release of a lot of new music, such as her new EP ‘All Day All Night’, released on 14th February on the Bristol-based independent label Expel Your Demons, but also with the track ‘Voltar’, released the 24th of January on the Hong Kong label Purple Fly Records.

Joanna Coelho’s favourite genres are Hard Techno and Hard Trance, with which she experiments with new sounds, combined with her vocals, to make her audience dance. The pounding, deep and powerful kicks of the four new tracks released by Joanna, ‘Hardcore MF’, ‘All Day, All Night’, ‘Let’s Begin The Rave’ and ‘Hardcore MF (Flawx’s remix)’, reveal a DJ with great potential that she is expressing more and more.

We get to know Joanna together with Eleonora Vologni to find out how her new EP came about, how her collaboration with Flawx was born and what her next releases will be.

1) Joanna, tell us about your new ep, how did the idea behind ‘All Day, All Night’ come about
and how was the creative process leading to three tracks and a remix?

This EP was all about exploring trending bass sounds like variations of psy and reverse bass
combined with powerful vocals, which are all rave themed. I was more than happy to get it signed
on Expel Your Demons as it is an amazing label that I usually go to when I’m looking for new tracks
to play.

2) About the ‘Hardcore MF’ remix with French DJ Flawx, how did you meet him and what
impressed you about his remix?

After playing a couple of tracks by Flawx I saw enormous potential on his producing style and
decided to invite him to this EP that is very special to me.

3) You recently released the track ‘Voltar’ where you also sing, how come you chose to include
your own voice in the song?

Although is not the first time I do so, this track seems to be one of the first where the vocals
actually take central stage in the track. I also chose to sing in Portuguese which I don’t usually but
everything felt so intuitive I just had to give it a go.

4) How would you describe your music to someone who does not know you?

An emotional roller coaster of juicy basses and driving melodies!

5) What is the most exhilarating thing you have done so far?

I think playing my music in front of people will always be the most incredible experience because
this exchange with the public is what keeps me going. I remember once taking a train on a tour
from Spain to Portugal.

6) Tough question: do you prefer producing in the tranquillity of your studio or performing in
front of thousands of people?

This is indeed a tough question because I love both and I think they feed each other. I love to play
my music and I’m able to do so in front of people because I’ve been in the studio. But I go to the
studio because making music makes me feel complete, so I guess its all a cycle.

7) Should we expect more releases soon?

Definitely! Expect a remix of the track Raw Meat by Maik(es) played by Shlomo on the label
Systolic and my new track Nonstop on the Label Xtence, both in March.
