LOV, the story
Can you tell our readers some more about you for those that might not be familiar with your work?
For anyone who doesn’t know me: I’m 24 years old, I’m originally from Italy, and I moved to London 3 years ago to follow my passion for music. I’m working with different DJ/producers at the moment. But my main goal is to produce an album myself where I can express my 100% real self, so keep your eyes peeled! 🙂
What is your musical background? Can you remember that one moment that kickstarted your passion for it all?
I’ve been into music since I was 6 years old, basically all my life. I started in the school choir, quite classic and traditional. Then in my teenage years, I started approaching a more modern and “out-of-the-box” way of studying music. I also attended NYFA (New York Film Academy) in New York to study Musical Performance in Broadway which is a completely different ambient considered what I do now. I’ve always been interested in lots of different music genres and styles. I just like good music, and I think that that helped me a lot. I’ve always known what I wanted to be and never had second thoughts since I can remember my only goal has always been becoming an artist.

You’re based in London now, how important would you say that can be to helping to push an artists career from the outset? Obviously, the connections and opportunities are more important most would say. Would you agree and have you found that has worked like that for yourself?
I had lived in many places, but in the end, I decided to move to London as I thought it would have been the perfect place to be, considering the kind of music I make. It definitely helped as in a city like this you go out all the time and you never know who you are going to meet. In saying that, I’d say at the same time, it doesn’t really matter where you are because you could meet people anywhere, anytime. For example, I met my manager at Sonar Festival in Barcelona last summer and he’s the best person I could have ever met. He helped me in so many ways with my career, made me a better person, and he’s helping me to grow in the music scene by becoming more focused in the way I go about reaching my ultimate goal.
You have a collaboration coming up ‘Flashing Lights; with a well thought of producer in Nhan Solo on his fantastic label SUPERFETT. How did that come about?
I met Nhan at Sonar Festival in Barcelona last year too, but this collaboration came about after the track I did with Alaia & Gallo, “Call Your Name”, was released on Armada Subjekt in February. Nhan heard it and he really liked it and he contacted my manager and that’s how the collaboration started.
How did it feel to release on Armada, with the power that that name has in the electronic music industry?
When they told me I was in shock. I couldn’t believe that a label so important was keen to release a track with my vocal and lyrics on. To be honest, it was so unreal to me that it only really sunk in for real when I saw the track on Beatport! I think this is also something that has helped me to assure me with the confidence of my abilities and to really push on in 2019. 🙂
Can you describe your process of how you approach a track, and how important is it to you that you put your stamp on it and it comes across very clearly as a LOV track in your mind?
I usually write a track after the producer sends me the instrumental. I find it easier for me as that gives me inspiration and freedom at the same time. Other times I get the instrumental plus tracks from where the producer wants me to get an idea of the vibe he wants to create, so I use that as my guideline. My goal when I write melodies and lyrics is to make something that people will remember straight away, simple and to the point. I always want to make that something that sticks in your head.

What have you got planned in the pipeline that you can tell us? Anything that you are particularly looking forward to?
I’m very excited about “Flashing Lights” coming out next week on Superfett! I also have another project I’ve been working on with CASSIMM, the only thing I can say is that it’s going to be a groovy one. 😉
And a couple of fun questions to finish, if you could meet anybody dead or alive who would it be, and what would you ask them?
It’s a very hard question as I don’t really know who I would choose as there are so many people I would love to talk to. I would love to have a conversation with Jim Morrison as I think he’s one of the best writers ever. He made such a big impact in music in such a short period of time and I think that’s incredible. I would ask him to show me how to be more in contact with myself (as a writer) because I find it very hard to get thoughts on paper sometimes.
If you were a beverage, what would you be?
I would definitely be Tequila, fun and unpredictable. LOL
Thank you!
