HYPNOZA

In Conversation with HYPNOZA: Crafting Soundscapes of Euphoria & Melancholy

Some artists make music. Others craft entire worlds. HYPNOZA is firmly in the latter camp. Blurring the lines between melodic techno, deep emotion, and cinematic storytelling, her sound is a portal—one that pulls you into dreamscapes where euphoria and melancholy collide. With her latest track, Fantasy, she’s not just dropping another banger; she’s creating an experience. We caught up with her to talk about sonic storytelling, collaboration chemistry, and chasing that next surreal moment on stage.

‘Fantasy’ has a powerful emotional energy. What kind of feelings or imagery were you hoping to evoke with this track?

With ‘Fantasy,’ we wanted to transport the listener into a dreamlike state—something that feels both haunting and beautiful. The goal was to evoke a sense of longing and emotional depth, like being caught between reality and a surreal, imagined world.

The dark melodies and atmospheric textures are meant to stir deep emotion, while the driving rhythm keeps you grounded. This track invites you to close your eyes and feel—whether that’s a sense of escape, introspection, or emotional release. We wanted every element to feel cinematic and immersive, almost like a soundtrack to a story that unfolds in your mind.

You’ve collaborated with some great artists on this release. What do you look for in a collaborator, and how did you all bring your touch to the song?

When it comes to collaborations, I value creative chemistry and mutual respect. It’s essential to work with artists who are not only talented but also open-minded and willing to explore new ideas. That connection was already there with Aldor. I was his friend before we started the collaboration, and he’s someone I trust musically. I’ve always admired his unique take on trance. Jordan Grace brought his signature emotional depth with the vocals, which became the soul of the track. Aldor added his driving, euphoric energy, and I brought in my love for moody, melodic techno textures, and we were able to create something magical.

If you could perform ‘Fantasy’ in any dream location or venue, where would it be and why?

Hands down, Tomorrowland. It’s one of the most iconic festivals in the world, and the energy there is just unmatched. The production, the crowd, the atmosphere—it all feels like something out of a dream, which aligns perfectly with the mood and emotion behind Fantasy. It would be surreal to play that track on a massive stage surrounded by lights and thousands of people from all over the world.

From the underground to major festivals, your tracks have reached diverse audiences. What’s been the most surreal moment of your career so far?

I’ve had some incredible moments on this journey, but one that stands out is being invited to play support for EDX at Miami Music Week. That was a full-circle moment for me—EDX has been one of my biggest idols in the industry. I remember listening to his music constantly while growing up, dreaming of one day being part of that world. To share the stage with him during one of the most iconic weeks in dance music honestly feels surreal. Moments like that remind me why I started and how far this passion has taken me.

How has your approach to music production evolved over the years?

I started producing music in 2019, right around the time I began my psychiatry residency. It was a intense period, and making music became my way to disconnect from the stress and reconnect with something I genuinely loved. Every night after work, I’d dive into my DAW—it became my escape and creative outlet. As I got more serious about it, I enrolled in music production school, which helped me build a solid foundation and refine my skills. Over time, I reached a point where I felt confident enough to start sending my tracks to labels. Since then, my sound has been constantly evolving. I’m always learning, always experimenting, and with each track, I push myself to grow—not just technically, but emotionally as an artist too.

As a DJ, how do you approach building a set? Do you prefer to plan, or do you read the energy of the crowd in the moment?

I lean toward planning ahead. I usually start weeks in advance, thinking deeply about the emotional journey I want to take the audience on. I spend hours digging for new music, curating the right tracks, arranging them into a flow that makes sense—and then I practice the set over and over until it feels just right. I’ll admit I’m a bit of a perfectionist. So, I want every transition, every moment, to be intentional. That said, I’m learning to let go a little and be more spontaneous in the moment. Reading the energy of the crowd is so important, and I’m starting to trust myself more to adapt when the vibe shifts.

The electronic music industry can be fast-paced and demanding. How do you stay inspired and keep evolving your sound?

For me, inspiration comes from constant immersion. I listen to melodic techno all day, every day—it’s honestly the soundtrack to my life. I’m always discovering new artists, revisiting tracks that move me, and studying how others craft emotion through sound. Going to shows and raves also inspires me. Experiencing music on a dance floor, surrounded by people who are fully in the moment, reminds me why I fell in love with this in the first place.

If you could go back and give your younger self one piece of advice about breaking into the music scene, what would it be?

I would tell myself: never give up. There will be days when self-doubt hits hard—when you question your path and wonder if you’ll ever “make it” in this industry. I’ve had plenty of those moments. But over time, I’ve realized that it’s not just about external success. The real win is creating something that comes from the heart and seeing it touch people around the world. Music has the power to connect, heal, and inspire—and being able to do that, even for one person, is already a considerable achievement. So, I’d remind my younger self to stay focused on the passion, the purpose, and the journey.

Beyond music, what are some passions or interests that influence your creativity?

I’m endlessly fascinated by the human mind—how we feel, think, and connect—which is why I became a psychiatrist. That curiosity deeply influences my creativity. I draw inspiration from emotions, inner conflicts, dreams, and the stories people carry. Outside of work, I also love art, film, and exploring new places. Visuals, moods, and environments often spark musical ideas for me. Even something as simple as a late-night walk through the city can trigger a melody or a concept for a track. I’m constantly absorbing energy from the world around me and translating it into sound.
