Marat Mode kicks of 2018 with a soulful mix
Our first guest of the year is Spanish producer Marat Mode. With this awesome mix, he also kicks off our new future stars series. A series in which we are giving young talents, who we see as future stars, a platform.
Marat Mode or Guillermo Talayero has been exploring sounds from acid to techno throughout the years. Today he is here with a stunning soulful session.
With this mix we also asked Marat Mode some questions to get to know him a little better and to understand where he is coming from.
Enjoy the mix & short Q&A below.
Marat Mode in short
Where are you from?
I’m from Spain. I’m originally from Valencia but now I’m based on the beach of Moncofar.
What do you find inspirational about where you’re living?
My home studio is very near to the beach. And every day I walk along the beach. I really like to see the different colours of the sea during the year.
Can you tell us a bit about your music background?
I bought my first mixer at the age of 17. I started out like many and played at home or at friends parties. Some time later I discovered music production. I took the computer of my mom, together with some friends of mine I installed a software program and we started and tried to make beats. After a year I took some Ableton lessons and learned to play the piano. Step by step I developed my production skills. The results are some releases on smaller labels like there are Soundhitectures, HMWL, Seven Villas.
When did you start DJing/producing?
As said, I started DJing at the age of 17 and producing some time later at the age of 18.
What or who are your passions and influences?
Depeche Mode, New Order, Sade, Giorgio Moroder. Pablo Picasso, Juan Grís, Pollock.
What can we expect from the mix you made?
A mix to enjoy at home or at the club. It’s a special selection of house music which make it a cool mix for a warm-up set.
What will the (near) future hold for you? Any big upcoming news?
I have a lot of music ready for 2018. Really soon I will release an EP called “Pablo”, again on Soundhitectures. At the end of January, a new track of mine, “Cubism”, will be released on a new Spanish label called “Maze”. The imprint is run by Hons and is based in Madrid.
