After 2 years without Contrair Open Air due to well-known reasons, the Antwerp based festival finally returns this year, on Friday 26 and Saturday 27, at a brand new location: Ekerse Putten.
“In 2020, we had to say goodbye to our beloved green oasis at Noordkasteel. We went looking for a new location and it was found in the Port of Antwerp,” says Massignani and Van Praag.
From 2022 onwards, Contrair Open Air will take place in the beautiful nature reserve around the Ekerse Putten, a unique festival location that they can call home for the coming years.
Today the celebrated nightlife concept released the first part of its lineup. With names like Jon Hopkins (live), Moodymann, DJ EZ, John Talabot, Lander & Adriaan, Jungle By Night, AliA and many more they are back. Bigger than ever!
Location: Ekerse Putten, 2030 Antwerp
Date: 26 and 27 August.

Live Stage with Jon Hopkins
Just like in previous years, the stages will be designed by Michiel Helbig and his architecture students from Sint-Lucas in Ghent. Next to 3 stages with local and international DJs of the highest calibre, Contrair Open Air will also have its own Live Stage. International, electronic live acts, local heroes and old friends will perform on this new stage. The crowd’s favourite: Jon Hopkins.
Jon Hopkins is an electronic artist, producer and classically trained composer whose work has been widely recognized. He also received Grammy, Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello nominations. “One of the most celebrated electronic musicians of his generation” according to the New Yorker. Hopkins has built a reputation for music that unites the dance floor and live performances that are loaded from rowdy techno to transcendent choral music, from acoustic piano solos to psychedelic ambient.
